A question I get asked a lot is can you plaster directly onto brick. The answer is it depends and I will go over all of the possible options below.
As with all plastering jobs it is highly recommend that you get a professional plasterer to complete the work. Plastering is an art and you will have to look at your wall for many years to come, so to ensure you get the perfect finish a plasterer is sure to do a great job.
If however you want to attempt a bit of DIY here are the options.
- A sand and cement render onto the brickwork and then a plaster finish. This will give you a very strong fixing and a great finish, but it does take a lot longer and will use more building materials
- Fix plasterboard to the brickwork with dot and dab and then finish with a plaster skim. This is a much cheaper method, it will give a great finish but there could be problems with fixing directly to the brickwork.
A plastering contractor will always float and set and finish with a plaster skim coat reading for painting.
If you are looking for a plastering contractor in the New Forest or Southampton Plastering-Direct has been plastering onto brickwork for over 25 years and can guarantee you a perfect finish everytime.
